Straw Dogs (England) "The Angry silence"
This is not your typical clichéd collection of songs about drinking, falling over and Dr Martens made in China; it’s real, it’s heartfelt and full of working class anger. As always Pat managed to write some of the best and most relevant lyrics on the scene, to-the-point, not politically correct, socio-critical and capturing the anger and angst we all have to deal with. The album is a collection of new songs (apart from "Strength of a nation") recorded in a cheap backstreet studio to recreate that gritty sound and includes a number of original songs that would have been recorded back around ’95 if things had turned out differently. The vocals are by Tony who sung on the original recordings and the songs have been written by Pat and Rob (who were also responsible for much of Superyob's early output). The songs as such are very catchy, catchy rhythms and song structure and the lyrics are as good as it gets, but that cheap backstreet studio sounds a bit too cheap, often more reminiscent of demo recordings than proper studio recordings. This would have been a top album if the recording quality would have been a bit better, without going for an all-out polished sound.

yep, there´s good songs in this album, but sound is bit too lo-fi even compared to old recordings.
